i have inherited a large safe cabinet co. safe but lock is confusing & the combination given to me doesn't work. can you help me?

the combnatn dial has two marks, one at 11 o'clock (a single hash mark) and one at 12 o'clock (same mark with almost horizontal marks on each side. the door also has a brass knob with spring loaded push button t its side, and a big wheel. i follow the instructions for the combination but keep getting no result. i want to get this 36"x41"x70" monster out of my garage, but need to make sure it is empty before i do. any help will be appreciated.

you should get a locksmith for your safe. that way, you will be able to open the safe without ruining it.
