i just bought an old house with a safe in the basement, the inscription on the inside of the lock says 'j baum cin oh july 1908'. there is an inner 'safety deposit box' sort of compartment that is locked and there is no key to be found anywhere in my house.
is this something a locksmith could open, or might such a replacement key exist somewhere?
thanks!

we have had several j baum's in our antique store, & that is most definately something that a good locksmith should be able to get into for you. as a matter of fact, we have had it done on some here. good luck!
